Assalamualaikum.
Somehow I felt like I'm writing a diary. Ahh screw that. I'm trying to improve my writing.
Anyway, 2 Astronomy learnt Literature today. Short story "One is one and all alone." Luckily I've learnt that from my previous literature class so I didn't got lost when they were discussing the short story. It means that I am able to relate with their lesson. It was kinda interesting how Miss Aizar taught them to think critically for their level. She provided them with answers scheme and ask what type of question could be asked if they were to use the answers given. Some of them were very good and some of them seemed kinda lost. It's okay, they are only fourteen.
The key to answer literature questions is to read the question carefully. Underline what is being asked. As for writing the answer, students need to :
*The question asked which character depicts the theme: intelligent.
1) Answer the question
e.g- Based on the short story ....... by .....
2) Reasons
e.g- The theme intelligent can be shown by Trish .....
3) Evidences
- it must be taken out from the short story.
- must provide minimum 3 evidences
e.g- Trish is capable of cloning herself.....
4) Justification
e.g- It shows that Trish is an intelligent girl as she succeed in cloning herself....
Other than observing the literature class, Sarah and I managed to interview the Principal, Tuan Haji Awang Mohamad Zaid. All I can say is that he is a very rare principal. I've never encountered such person who is really humble and sincere in doing his work. He shared all his experiences and has been very helpful. You can find him wandering around the school compound to see if there is any problem, blending in with the school system and really care about the person in the organization especially the students. He also remembered that the Vanguardians took a picture with him at the staircase holding our SPM results and that was 2 years ago. Great memory I can say.
This is us back in 2010 :')
Then we interviewed the Senior Assistant of the Students' Affairs, Ustaz Jasmani or Ustaz J for short. He was rather different from the person I taught he was. I was very afraid that he might scold us for being late for the meeting as we messed up the time of the appointment. Fiuuhh. He was expecting us and we carried on with the questions. He was smiling and kidding around the whole time. No tense. At all. Alhamdulillah.
Tomorrow we will continue with the other two Senior Assistants.
By the way, Sarah and I were invited to have iftar with the students at the dining hall or we called it "DeMa" short form of "Dewan Makan". It was quite awkward for me as I was eating with the wardens. Yikes. I used to be a student there. The transformation from regular student's table to prefect's table, and now the teachers'/wardens' table. Ahha. Can you imagine that. But it was nice to have eaten at Dema after 3 years :)
